At the invitation of the Rector of the Todor Kableshkov University of Transport (KTU) in Sofia prof. Dr. Daniela Todorova, PhD., on 13th and 14th of September 2022 delegation of the BUEM, composed of: the President of the Academic Senate Assoc. prof. Ing. Stanislav Filip, PhD., Vice-Rector for Foreign Relations Assoc. prof. Ing. Michal Fabuš, PhD. and Mgr. Ľubica Filipová, PhD. from the Student Services Centre. Moreover participants of the event were distinguished representatives of the President's Office of Bulgaria, the Ministry of Transport and Education of Bulgaria and also more than twenty delegations across the Europe and Asia participated in the celebrations.
On the first day of the visit delegation of the BUEM, the opening ceremony of the academic year 2022/2023, as the first foreign delegation among the others spoke to attendees Chairman of the Academic Senate of BUEM doc. Ing. Stanislav Filip, PhD. and wished the management of KTU, teachers, staff and especially students successfull, fruitfull upcoming academic year.
After the opening ceremony of the new academic year, with the participation of foreign delegations, new laboratories were opened at the partner university, where the delegation of BUEM cut the ribbon.
In the official part of the ceremony, the head of the BUEM delegation presented the Rector of the celebrating university letter from the Rector of the BUEM and handed over the gift. Likewise, the Rector of the Todor Kableshkov University of Transportation prof. Daniela Todorova, as a token of gratitude and respect for our institutions' long-standing partnership and fruitful cooperation, presented a letter of appreciation and a commemorative plaque to BUEM.
After the official part of the celebrations, which took place in the premises of the University, the celebrations continued at the Central Club of the Armed Forces of Bulgaria, where a gala concert of the Army Art Ensemble and a cocktail party for the invited guests took place. On the concert were first time sung the Anthem - "University Anthem", composed by a student and member of staff of the University.
In the sightseeing part of the celebrations, our delegation took part in an excursion to the birthplace and grave site of the university's patron Todor Kableshkov in the village of Koprivshtitsa, who as a young 25-year-old revolutionar and highly skilled telegraphic specialist in railway transport, fell heroically in the uprising of the fighters for the national liberation of Bulgaria in 1876. A university was named in his honour, which was established by law in 1922.
