On April 9th, 2025, the Bratislava University of Economics and Management had the honor of welcoming His Excellency Dr. Thomas Kurz, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Slovakia, for a special guest lecture titled “Challenges and Opportunities of the Bilateral Relations between Germany and Slovakia.”
The event brought together students from various study programs and academic years, including number of international students, all eager to hear insights from a leading diplomat with first-hand experience in European affairs.
During the lecture, Ambassador Kurz provided a thoughtful overview of the long-standing and evolving relationship between Germany and Slovakia. He touched on key historical milestones that have shaped the bilateral ties between the two nations and emphasized the importance of continued cooperation in today’s dynamic political and economic environment.
In addition to exploring diplomatic relations, Dr. Kurz addressed broader challenges facing the European Union, with a particular focus on the automotive sector and employment issues in Germany. He spoke candidly about the impact of global economic shifts, technological transformation, and environmental policies on industries that are vital to both the German and Slovak economies.
